The short answer

Pressure washing uses high-pressure water to blast dirt and buildup off hard, durable surfaces. Soft washing uses low pressure and professional cleaning solutions that kill and rinse away organic growth. Tough surfaces can take the pressure; delicate surfaces need the gentler soft-wash approach.

What is pressure washing?

Pressure washing relies on force. It is the right choice for concrete driveways, pavers, sidewalks, block walls, and other hard surfaces where years of grime, algae, tire marks, and mineral staining need to be lifted mechanically. Done correctly, it restores the surface without leaving zebra striping or gouges.

What is soft washing?

Soft washing does the opposite: the cleaning solution does the work, not the pressure. A gentle, biodegradable mix breaks down algae, mildew, and mold at the root, then everything is rinsed away at a pressure similar to a garden hose. Because it treats the growth instead of blasting it, results last longer and the surface stays intact.

Which surfaces need which?

As a rule of thumb:

  • Soft wash: roofs (tile, shingle, metal), painted and stucco siding, wood, screen enclosures, and vinyl.
  • Pressure wash: concrete driveways, pavers, sidewalks, curbs, block walls, and commercial dumpster pads.

Most homes need both. A single visit often soft washes the roof and siding while pressure washing the driveway and walkways.

Why it matters more in South Florida

Our heat, humidity, and frequent rain make algae and mildew grow fast, and coastal salt air accelerates it. That tempts people to blast everything at full pressure. But high pressure on a roof lifts shingles, strips protective granules, forces water underneath, and can void the manufacturer warranty. On stucco and screens it causes real damage. Matching the method to the surface is what protects your property while it gets clean.

How we decide on your property

We look at each surface, its material, and its condition, then choose the lowest-risk method that still delivers a full clean. It is the difference between a wash that looks good for a week and one that protects the surface for the long run.
